The Angry Sun is an enemy that appears in both Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii and Newer Super Mario Bros. DS. It is a sun with an angry face and a variety of fireball-based attacks.

Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii[]

Throughout Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, the Angry Sun only appears in Searing Sands and Grey Mountains. It appears alongside its counterpart, the Mad Moon, in the latter.

Appearance[]

The Angry Sun looks similar to its debut appearance. It is a small sun with an angry face.

Behavior[]

The Angry Sun will stay at the top of the screen, and can attack by swooping down at the players, spitting out one to three fireballs at a time, moving in a spiral pattern, or sending out lots of fireballs while spinning around. Unlike in their debut appearances in Super Mario Bros. 3, Angry Suns do not follow the camera. An Angry Sun can be defeated by throwing a Koopa shell or frozen enemy at it, touching it with a Super Star, or by touching the Checkpoint Flag or Flagpole.

Newer Super Mario Bros. DS[]

Since desert-themed levels were scarce in Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, the Angry Sun only appeared in Skyglare Dryland, along with the only appearance of the Mad Moon.

Appearance[]

Unlike in Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, this version of the Angry Sun is a 2D sprite instead of a 3D model. This sprite is taken straight out of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Behavior[]

The Angry Sun acts exactly the same as the last game.

Trivia[]

  • The Angry Sun was an enemy originally from Super Mario Bros. 3.
    • Not only that, the Angry Sun also appears in Mario Kart DS.
