Big Goombas (also known as Grand Goombas or Giant Goombas) are uncommon enemies found throughout the Newer Super Mario Bros. series. They're larger versions of the Goomba.

Big Goomba resemble regular Goombas aside from their size. They're brown mushroom-like creatures with darker brown shoe-like feet and beige armless bodies. They have two large black often angry eyebrows over their two white eyes and a pair of white fangs sprouting from their lower jaw.

In every game except Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, their mouths will open and close and they'll take bigger steps.

Unlike standard Goombas in Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, they do not appear as 2D sprites, instead appearing as 3D models.

Big Goombas will slowly walk left and right, falling off ledges and turning at walls. They can come in many sizes, and when they are stomped, they'll turn into two smaller versions of themselves. The smallest Big Goomba size will result in two standard Goombas while larger Big Goomba sizes will result in two more Big Goombas of one size smaller.

They can also be defeated by three fireballs from a Fire Flower or a hammer from a Hammer Suit.
