Fire Snakes are fiery, snake-like enemies which appear throughout the Newer Super Mario Bros. series.

Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii[]

Fire Snakes first appear in Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, where they're first found in Cactus Cove, and make their final appearance in Magmaworks Factory. They mostly appear in Rubble Ruins.

Appearance[]

Fire Snakes are made up of five fireballs, with the front one being larger than the others. This front one also has two black eyes. Flame particles can be seen where they go.

Behavior[]

Fire Snakes will jump around slowly in the player's direction. Once the player gets close enough to them, their heads will enlarge, making it hard to dodge them. After a little bit, their heads will get small again.

Fire Snakes can only be killed by iceballs, Koopa shells, and rolling objects (such as Barrels).

Newer Super Mario Bros. DS[]

Fire Snakes appear again in Newer Super Mario Bros. DS. This time, though, they only appear in one level: Sandstream Tunnel.

Appearance[]

Fire Snakes look exactly like their Wii versions. The only different between them is that these versions don't leave flame particles where they go.

Behavior[]

Fire Snakes act almost the same as their Wii versions, except now, their heads don't grow when you're near them. This makes dodging them not such of a hassle. Fire Snakes in this game can't be killed by normal means.
