Fungi Pit (or World 3-5) is the sixth level of Mushroom Peaks in Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. It takes place in an underground cave filled with Mushroom Platforms. It also features the Mini Mushroom.
Fungi Pit is unlocked by completing Burnblaze Tower. Completing it will unlock Slanty Shroomroad. Alternatively, Fungi Pit can be accessed through a shortcut by completing the secret exit of Shy Guy Peaks in Sky Mountain.
Layout[]
The majority of the level takes place underground, featuring many mushroom platforms that continuously bounce around or extend/shorten over and over. After the checkpoint there are two different sections of the level, but they all lead to the other end. The "athletic" section is accessed by the green Warp Pipe above, which requires the Yellow Switch Palace to be completed to be accessible. This section resembles Wobbleshroom Bluffs in a way. The other section, a dark underground cave, is accessible by any means. There is at-level water that rises and falls at certain parts of the section. Glow Blocks are important in this section as it is almost completely dark besides the occasional torch blocks. After this, the level continues with its normal theme before returning above ground and to the goal pole.
Star Coins[]
- Star Coin 1: Near the beginning of the pit, in the middle of two swinging Mushroom Platforms. You must either throw a Koopa shell at it, or dangerously jump in between the fungi.
- Star Coin 2: You need to have a Mini Mushroom in order to get this Star Coin. Immediately after the checkpoint is a Mini Warp Pipe. Go through it to get the Star Coin.
- Star Coin 3: Right before the end of the level, this Star Coin will be in plain sight. Either dangerously jump onto the swinging red Mushroom Platform or go through the cracks above it as Mini Mario in order to get this Star Coin.
Walkthrough[]
Trivia[]
- This level has received criticism by many fans due to the overall blandness of the level and the out-of-place athletic section in the middle of the level. Its alternate section, an underground dark cavern, has received equal amounts of criticism. Because of that, many concepts have been made as a replacement for the level.
