Magma Iceburrow (or World 5-8) is the second level of Freezeflame Volcano in Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. It takes place in a Freezeflame-themed cavern featuring Cooligans and icicles.

Magma Iceburrow is unlocked by completing Penguin Heatbath. Completing its normal exit will unlock Glacier Lavalake, and completing its secret exit will unlock Swooper Cellar in Crystal Caves.

Layout[]

Just like every other level in Freezeflame Volcano, it takes place in an icy cavern featuring lava. There is a lot of icicles, some of which can fall. Several icicles can be very large, being able to slowly sink in lava.

Star Coins[]

  • Star Coin 1: You will need the Penguin Suit for this. Use it to destroy the block and slide and perform some wall-jumps to reach it.
  • Star Coin 2: The second star coin is in plain sight above several yellow blocks. Collect it normally, but watch out for the icicles above.
  • Star Coin 3: Let the final giant icicle drop, and quickly reach the Warp Pipe which leads you to an area with two large icicles. Jump across the two icicles and enter the green pipe to warp back to the main area and into the third Star Coin.

Secret Exit[]

After the first Star Coin is a red Warp Pipe. You'll need to activate the Red Switch Palace first to reach it. Let the icicle after the red blocks drop to reach it and warp to the secret exit room.

Trivia[]

  • If you look carefully at the background, there is noticeable black spots towards the higher part of the background. This is likely because it is using the background layer instead of the foreground layer.
