Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii Plus (previously known as Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii Deluxe) is a revamped version of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. This game will be released in celebration of the fifth anniversary of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. The release date is unknown.
The game will feature updated graphics, new music, and polished-up level design. Some of the graphics have been pulled from New Super Mario Bros. U, but others have been created from scratch. The trailer initially showed level design nearly identical to the original, but all levels are planned to be updated further.
Production
Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii Deluxe was announced on June 7th, 2018 and a trailer was released. Seven screenshots were also released and posted on the Newer website on the same day.
On August 15th, 2018, the Newer Team uploaded a video calling for programmers, and they opened a Discord server intended to allow users to easily apply for a position on the team, and where the developers can show off smaller sneak peaks not big enough for a development video.
Some of the features that have been announced include Yoshi drums (which play when you hop on a Yoshi), updated Classic Controller controls, and even new levels replacing some of the lesser-quality levels in the original.
