Red Lava (or World 9-1) is the first level of Special World in Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is unlocked by completing Bowser's Keep and collecting all 354 Star Coins. This level takes place inside a cavern full of red-hot lava and water bubbles.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: After the 8th bubble, drop down to find the coin, and then jump back to the bubble.
- Star Coin 2: You'll need a Penguin Suit. After the giant swimming section, grab the Super Star and then swim as fast as you can to kill the urchin who was covering it up.
- Star Coin 3: Just before the flagpole, use the bubbles to reach the coin or use the Propellor Suit.

- As suggested in the level's files, there is an inaccessible secret exit that may be linked to the unused Special World. This level, along with Brown Forest, Orange Prairie, Yellow Beach, Mossdeep Greens, Blue Chilldesert and Navyblue Molemine all have inaccessible secret exits.
