Grimoire Grounds (or World 4-6) is the eighth level of Pumpkin Boneyard in Newer Super Mario Bros. DS. It's a spooky pumpkin field with a gimmick of haunted ground.

Grimoire Grounds is unlocked by completing Arachnid Charnel. Completing it will unlock Derelict Schooner.

Star Coins[]

Star Coin 1: Near the beginning, you will see the ground bouncing in and out of the poison. When the ground is almost below the poison, you can grab the Star Coin, but then hightail it out of there, lest you want to take a poison bath.

Star Coin 2: You need to be Super Mario or above to get this Star Coin. Before the checkpoint, you will find a ? Switch that you need to press to progress. Hightail it through this next section, as you will find a row of Brick Blocks surrounding the previously-hidden Star Coin. Ground-pound to break them.

Star Coin 3: Near the ending, a giant spiked ball will be rolling around in between two hills. The Star Coin is in plain sight right in between the hills. Jump down to get it, but be careful--once the spiked ball stops, you can no longer get the Star Coin.

Trivia[]

SpringySpiritland

Grimoire Grounds' old preview screen.

  • Versions 1.00 through 1.07 of the game showed this level as "Springy Spiritland" before it was eventually renamed to "Grimoire Grounds" in version 1.10.
    • Due to a mistake[1], this level shared its level preview with Pumpkin Thornhill in versions 1.00 through 1.07 of the game. The level doesn't feature any Boos nor Splunkins, and the background in the level preview doesn't match up with the in-game background.
