Warp Pipes (or simply just pipes) are means of transportation throughout the Newer Super Mario Bros. series. They're extremely common, appearing in almost every level.
Appearance[]
Warp Pipes are tubes with a small part extending from their top. They can come in many different colors: green, yellow, red and blue. Green is the most common out of all these colors.
Function[]
Some Warp Pipes can be entered, while others cannot. If they're not enterable, they'll simply be platforms, sometimes bobbing up and down or left and right. If they are enterable, however, they'll lead you to a new or secret area. A vertical Warp Pipe allows the player to just press up or down to enter. A horizontal Warp Pipe is a bit more complicated, as unlike vertical ones, you need a bit of land under the Warp Pipe to enter it. A horizontal Warp Pipe stuck in the air is unenterable by normal means.
Trivia[]
- In Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, Warp Pipes are used to transport the character to the boss in certain Towers and Castles, examples being Fliptube Tower and Stormeye Stronghold, respectively. This is a deviation from the Boss Door being the main means of transportation to the boss area.
